250g of dried jackfruit is equivalent to about 1Kg of the original fruit. When you soak this jackfruit in water, you get four times of gresh jackfruit peeled and ready to cook. Having dried jackfruit, you are storing more jackfruit in limited quantity and little space with more shelve life where only water is removed.

100 g of edible jackfruit bulbs provide 95 calories. The fruit made of soft, easily digestible flesh (arils) made up of simple sugars like fructose and sucrose that when eaten replenishes energy and revitalizes the body instantly.

Jackfruit is rich in dietary fiber, which makes it a good bulk laxative. The fiber content helps protect the colon mucous membrane by binding to and eliminating cancer-causing chemicals from the colon.

The fresh fruit has small but significant amounts of vitamin-A, and flavonoid pigments such as carotene-ß, xanthin, lutein, and cryptoxanthin-ß. Together, these compounds play vital roles in antioxidant and vision functions. Vitamin-A also required for maintaining the integrity of mucosa and skin. Consumption of natural fruits rich in vitamin-A and carotenes has been found to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers.

Jackfruit is a good source of antioxidant vitamin-C, provides about 13.7 mg or 23% of RDA. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin-C helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful free radicals.

It is one of the rare fruits that is rich in a B-complex group of vitamins. It contains outstanding amounts of vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), niacin, riboflavin, and folic acid.

Further, it is a good source of potassium, magnesium, manganese, and iron. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure.

Good for making Jackfruit based dishes (chakka puzhukku, south India dish). Please check out the Recipe tab next to this tab.

Below is a dish you can easily make and very yummy. Check out the Recipe tab for the details.

Reconstituting Guidelines

A good rule of thumb for reconstituting fruits, vegetables and meats is to add about three times the amount of boiling water to the product. Then let it set for at least 20 minutes to 4 hour based on the type of product. If cold water is used, the product must sit in the refrigerator for about four hours or overnight.

If you have added too much water, you can drain it and use it in cooking. If your food  looks like it needs more water, then add more. To speed up the reconstitution process, add the dried product directly to soup and cook as usual.

Few of the dishes which are very cultural can be found below. This is not limited to just these but all upto your imaginations and simple recipes to make new dishes.

Jackfruit Stew or Chakka Puzhukku

The first step is to reconstiutue the dried raw JackFruit. For that,

extremely happy
I was extremely happy with my purchase of dried jackfruit. I made Jack fruit nachos and Jack fruit Shepard's pie. I got recipes from the internet. It tasted fantastic and I will definitely repurchase from you I was surprised how quickly it was delivered and the delivery person was incredibly nice and helpful. The bonus dried bananas was a pleasant unexpected surprise and really nice. Thank you for providing this product as it is very hard to find in Australia.

love the prices and concept of your products
I love the prices and concept of your products - it allows people to acquire jackfruit for their culinary experiments while not having to buy many cans of the fruit, using much more packaging and waste. It's a shame my items all came in individual boxes - I think this should be avoided.
The jackfruit seemed to take a lot longer than advised to rehydrate, and even after dehydrating for four hours and cooking for half an hour, it didn't achieve the shredded texture of jackfruit, but rather stayed in large thick strands.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Since we had to deliver outside, each packets were put in a box to avoid any damage.
Even though we take ultimate care in sorting the best dried quality, Jack Fruit from different Jack Fruit Tree can taste different as well as take more or less time. We have seen this in packet to packet.
The best is to refrigerate overnight and pressure cook to suit best.  If small size makes it better in general for vegan recipes, we can try that.
